Clark Kent & Bruce Wayne
Martha Kent & Lois Lane
Friendship and camaraderie and dedication and debt!!! The only person in the entire world who can understand you is so different that they might as well be a foreign planet. Sacrifice and meaning and the fact that you can never tell anyone else exactly what you've seen and experienced, and still you have to pick yourself back up and keep moving forward. I love putting Clark in perilous situations where the Man of Steel's humanity is at the forefront, and Bruce's dedication to kindness battling with his need to push everyone away (and also show how much he actually does care.) And Lois and Martha have so much to talk about: it can be about the ways their lives have come to revolve around Krypton despite it all, or maybe them connecting through their passion and steadfastness!
Eda Clawthorne & Lilith Clawthorne
Lilith sacrifices her sister on the altar of the fear of never being as good and Eda spends the next few decades driving everyone away and trying to prove her right. But despite everything, Lilith and Eda love each other dearly and want what's best for each other. Their dedication to protecting each other takes twisted forms and the lack of communication and resentment and hurt explodes in their faces. I adore exploring Lilith's guilt and attempts to drag herself from the shape of the cult of the Emperor's Coven has forced her into, and the ways in which she spends so much of her time trying to become a sister that can truly make up for cursing Eda (sometimes even against Eda's own desires.) Sibling bonding/angst, learning to live with shared disability with the Owl Curse, and renegotiating their relationship and forgiveness all welcome!
Allura & Coran (Voltron)
A surrogate father and the daughter he is charged with raising for the pain and responsibility of leadership. The last two Alteans in the universe, with the legacy of an entire people to carry on their backs. And yet, they're silly and loving and kind and passionate and enduring. Their relationship in all of its myriad dimensions is so interesting, and exploration of it in any way would be so fantastic. Castle shenanigans, bonding, and fluff, or tragedy and melancholy and loss: they contain multitudes! Completely happy with a canon in which Allura never sacrifices herself in the ending and they help rebuild Altea, or one in which she does, and Coran gets to say goodbye, or help uphold her legacy and wishes.
Jean Grey & Erik Lehnsherr (X-Men)
Some of the two most powerful mutants of their generation, shaped by rejection and fear and lifelong attachment and dedication to the first cause that inspires them. Jean is terrified of the power of the Phoenix and too scared to accept the unsavory parts of herself; Erik has no such illusions, but is also cocky enough to think he can control it completely. They're on different sides of the exact same fight, constantly in opposition yet with more in common than either wants to admit. Would love something where Jean and Erik are forced to learn from each other, or something through the years as Erik periodically shows up at the mansion and they gain fragmented pictures of each other. Telepathy is such a unique way of experiencing the world (and a fantastic allegory for the entirely distinct natural tools some people have to interact with the world with) so anything including that would also be my jam! Original and Alternate Timeline welcome, or any permutation of the two you'd like to conjure!
